FreeViUX is a project belonging to UNICORNIOS Group (Specialized Services for Migration) from the University of Informatics Sciences, in Cuba.
FreeViUX starts in February 29, 2008 because of the need to create a group of designers for the development of audiovisual products using only free software and open source. Its first mission was to create a Course GNU / Linux with the most incredible in effects and animation, to break several paradigms existing in this type of works.
We studied the tools available in GNU / Linux to make multimedia products. The study and testing resulted in a proposal for the migration to free software tools for editing images, audio, and video. Our team uses a GNU/Linux distribution customized for us, based on Debian Lenny and we are working hard to make other release bur based on NOVA GNU/Linux.
Our mission is to support the migration to Free Software in Cuba, provide service of business and product presentations, in addition to providing a service of a render farm.

FreeViUX es un proyecto perteneciente al Grupo UNICORNIOS (Servicios especializados para la Migración) de la Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas, en Cuba.
Surgió el 29 de febrero del 2008 por la necesidad de hacer un estudio de las herramientas disponibles en GNU/Linux para realizar productos multimedia. El estudio y las pruebas realizadas dio como resultado una propuesta para la migración a software libre de las herramientas de edición de imágenes, audio, y video.
El equipo de FreeViUX utiliza una distribución de GNU/linux personalizada por ellos, basada en Debian Lenny.
Su misión es apoyar la migración a SWL en Cuba, brindar servicios de presentaciones comerciales de productos, además de proveer un servicio de render distribuido.
